Workshops

Workshops at Drawing Matter are an important part of our programme and offer students and practitioners a unique opportunity to engage closely with our collection of architectural drawings. We invite new and imaginative ways of interacting with the collection, and are interested in collaborating with tutors and practitioners, tailoring each workshop to specific pedagogical briefs and research interests.

Workshop with architectural history students from Trinity College, Dublin.

Previous workshops have focused on drawing typologies and media, or on different uses of drawing in the design process—the survey, sketches and sketchbooks, working, construction, and presentation drawings, or have focused on images that address specific aspects of a research or design brief, from the form of the city to the design of staircases.

Workshops can take place for a half day, full day, or over several days across a week or entire semester.

Contact workshops@drawingmatter.org to discuss organising a workshop. For research visits relating to the Drawing Matter Collection please contact collection@drawingmatter.org

In your enquiry, we encourage you to consider:

  1. What do you want your students, or colleagues, to gain from the workshop?
  2. How does the workshop fit within the wider context of your research or studio work?
  3. Which drawings from the collection you would like to work with?
